tsc in powershell through Visual Studio Code stopped working correctly

I was following along in a Udemy class and the tsc command was working properly. After taking a break for a few minutes I continued with the course and now when used it will display this:

I tried using it on a specific file and it generated .js files for all the .ts files in the folder instead of just the specified one. Then I tried just tsc again and it gave me the previous chunk of common commands.
